Privacy Notice

Information we collect

• Contact and booking details — name of the person booking, student name, email address, selected session time and timezone, and any notes you provide.
• Coaching materials — essay drafts, document links and instructions you share with us for feedback.
• Support messages — anything you send through the questions form or by email.
• Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, and basic usage/telemetry generated when you visit the site.

Payment card details are never collected or stored by us. Payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, under its own privacy notice.

Why we use it and our legal basis

• Scheduling sessions, delivering coaching and editing feedback, and sending confirmations and invoices — performance of a contract.
• Responding to questions and providing support — performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
• Site security, fraud prevention and service improvement — legitimate interests.
• Optional marketing or updates, where offered — consent, withdrawable at any time.
• Tax, accounting and record-keeping obligations — legal obligation.

Who we share it with

• Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery and scheduling tools that operate on our instructions.
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of our services, payment processing, invoicing and tax compliance.
• Professional advisers such as accountants or legal counsel, where necessary.
• Authorities, where disclosure is required by law.

We do not sell personal information.

Retention

We keep booking, invoice and tax records for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically up to seven years). Essay drafts and coaching notes are kept only while needed to deliver the service and are deleted or anonymised on request or when no longer needed. Contact-form messages are kept up to 24 months.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal information, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email support@originstoryessays.com. We respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

Students under 18 should have a parent or guardian involved in booking and in any sharing of personal information with us.

International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data there. Where information is transferred from the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, restricted access to booking and payment records, and reputable managed infrastructure — to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit the data we hold and who can reach it.

Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar storage needed to run the site, keep your booking session working and process checkout. If we add analytics or marketing cookies, we will request consent first and provide a way to manage your preferences. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the booking flow may stop working.
